COMEBA Assembly | Chengdu

COMEBA strengthens its structure and expands its membership base

At the General Assembly convened in Chengdu, COMEBA delineates and activates its primary strategic initiatives that will influence its development in subsequent years.

The inaugural COMEBA Championship, scheduled for 2025, is formally inaugurated, providing member nations with the opportunity to host the Confederation’s most significant event. Concurrently, essential amendments to the statutes are ratified and enacted, fortifying governance by guaranteeing that all members of the Executive Board are consistently supported by their respective national federations.

Additionally, the criteria for membership are officially broadened to permit all nations participating in the Mediterranean Games to assume membership in COMEBA, extending beyond those with a Mediterranean coastline. As a direct consequence, Palestine, Portugal, and Bosnia & Herzegovina have joined COMEBA for the first time during this Assembly.

Lastly, COMEBA articulates its endorsement for the initiative promoted by the Ibero-American Badminton Confederation, facilitated through the Spanish Badminton Federation, which aspires for regional championships to confer world ranking points.
